Nelson Park Dog Park
One of our favourite off-leash parks in London is the Nelson Park in the West End. Nelson Park was completely rebuilt by the city about 2 years ago, and in doing this they created a very nice fenced dog area in the south west corner.
We usually take our dog down to the park on the weekend. We walk him from our place, which is about a 20 minute walk, so he’s usually pretty tired when we get there. He loves to run and play with the other dogs and we’ve never seen any real fights between dogs.
There’s quite often several dogs in the park as there are a lot of residential units in the West End. In fact, it’s one of the most densely populated areas in the UK. So we never have to worry about our dog not finding other dogs to play with at the Nelson Dog Park.
The area is completely fenced, as I said, and both the east and west ends have a double gated “airlock” arrangement making it nearly impossible for the dogs to get out. There’s a few benches inside for owners to sit and watch their dogs play, lots of trees around the edges for the dogs to pee on, and garbage cans at each exit for disposing of any unwanted items.
Another great feature of the Nelson Dog Park is the water fountain at the east entrance. It’s very convenient for making sure your dog gets much needed water before and/or after a good hard play session.
Overall, we love that this park is convenient, safely fenced, has water available and usually has abundant dogs for play.
